The Polish incumbent Orange Polska ended the second quarter with a total of 720,000 TV subscribers, or 3% more than the 699,000 it had a year earlier.
Of these, 144,000 (101,000) received ‘n’ packages. Orange Polska’s TV subscriber base was predominantly made up of DTH customers (591,000, up from 582,000 a year earlier), with the remainder (129,000 v 117,000) opting for IPTV.
Its triple play (TV, broadband and VoIP) subscriber total at the end of Q2 stood at 383,000, up 22% on the 314,000 posted a year earlier.
Orange Polska’s revenues in Q2 amounted to PLN3,084 million (€743.3 million), down by 5.4% on the same period last year.
Its restated EBITDA was up by 5.1% to PLN1,040 million and net income by 23.7% to PLN94 million.
Commenting on the Q2 results, Maciej Nowohonski, Orange Polska’s CFO, said: “During the quarter we managed to maintain solid commercial momentum and at the same time we kept on strict cost control across all lines, which generated almost PLN80 million savings over the period.
“As a consequence we increased our restated EBITDA margin to almost 34% in 2Q. In addition, as said a quarter ago, we enhanced our cash generation in 2Q and are therefore able to reaffirm our full-year guidance for organic cash flow”.
