Vodafone backs Kabel Deutschland results

July 28, 2014 10.03 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Kabel DeutschlandGermany’s largest cable operator Kabel Deutschland has increased its turnover in the three months until June 30, 2014 by 5.8% compared with last year’s quarter and added 83,000 new customers.

This was announced by parent company Vodafone Deutschland at the presentation of its quarterly financial results.

The cable business can thereby more than compensate the decrease in Vodafone’s ADSL business. Turnover in the ADSL segment dropped by 3.2% compared with last year’s quarter while the number of ADSL customers decreased by 5.1%.

Kabel Deutschland and Vodafone have been marketing their products under the joint brand Zuhause Plus since early May 2014 in their 700 Vodafone shops, 200 Kabel Deutschland branches and on the internet. The best-selling offering is Internet & Telefon 100 with 100Mbps internet for €19.90 per month in the first year after which it costs €39.90 per month.

Vodafone acquired Kabel Deutschland in October 2013 for almost €11 billion. The UK-based telecommunications company wants to extinguish the name Kabel Deutschland in favour of its Vodafone brand in the long run.
