Discovery Networks International says it was able to ward off stiff competition from the World Cup to deliver its biggest ever quarter.
The broadcaster enjoyed a global audience of 621 million; an increase of 3% year-on-year. Social platforms saw a massive 250% increase.
JB Perrette, President, Discovery Networks International, said: “This outstanding performance is testament to the strength of our global business. Once again we’re raising the bar in the international content space on-air and online.”
Flagship network Discovery Channel reached 366 million viewers, while Animal Planet and TLC pulled in 252 million and 204 million respectively.
DNI’s free-to-air portfolio continues to flourish, adding 12% in Western Europe overall for the quarter with records being broken in Spain for Discovery Max’s coverage of the French Open tennis final.
There was also double-digit growth for Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery and Discovery Home and Health.
