The launch of the new Thor 7 satellite has been put back to 2015.
In a statement Telenor Group said the postponement was due to “external factors”.
The Space Systems Loral craft was due to be launched from the Ariane facility in French Guiana this autumn.
It’s understood that the manufacture of Thor 7 is on track, but the delays mean a shift of CAPEX for the operator.
Thor 7 will be equipped with 11 Ku-band transponders, to provide dedicated capacity for broadcast services in Central and Eastern Europe, and a Ka-band payload, which will be used to meet the growing demand for broadband communications within the offshore sector.
Meanwhile, Telenor’s satellite platform Canal Digital saw continued subscriber erosion, losing another 5,000 subscribers. The operator now has 915,000 subscribers producing a monthly ARPU of NOK 366.
Revenues within Telenor Broadcast remained flat at NOK 1,529,000 when adjusted for the sale of security wing Conax and currency variations.
