IPTV operator TalkTalk added another 185,000 new TV (YouView) customers in the quarter taking the installed base to over 1.1 million. An extended wholesale carriage agreement with BSkyB has also been announced for Sky Sports and Sky Movies.
After a torrid few years the telco has now reported its 6th consecutive quarter of year-on-year revenue growth and 7th consecutive quarter of base growth, also adding 10,000 new broadband subscribers.
Total revenue was up 3.1% year-on-year to £434 million.
“Our strategy for growth continues to deliver according to plan, and we are delighted to report another quarter of base growth and year-on-year revenue progress, including continuing strong momentum in new products such as TV, and data services in TalkTalk Business,” said Dido Harding, chief executive of TalkTalk. “Importantly, we have also continued to reduce churn on our on-net base, with a third consecutive quarter of improvement, as we continued to improve our customers’ experience and drive increased loyalty through new products. We expect revenue growth to again, build through the year and we are on track to deliver our FY15 revenue and margin guidance, and medium term financial targets.
The agreement with Sky extends the YouView contract for a further two years as well as adding the rights to catch up content for the channels.
From August 12 the new Sky Sports 5 will be included for TalkTalk customers, giving them the complete Sky Sports bouquet.

From 12 August, TalkTalk’s Sky Sports customers will receive the brand new channel Sky Sports 5, giving them access to up to 600 live European football matches a season, including UEFA Champions League and UEFA EURO 2016. The full range of Sky Sports channels will be available to TalkTalk customers through its Sky Sports Boost package.
The agreement additionally includes new rights for TalkTalk to offer Sky Sports Box Office, which lets customers watch major live boxing and wrestling events on a pay-per-view basis.
Earlier this year Sky started offering TalkTalk customers the ability to purchase the Sky Sports day pass through its internet TV service NOW TV on TalkTalk’s YouView platform.
