Viewers were prevented from accessing content on the BBC iPlayer over the weekend that affected both the website and app versions. The bbc.co.uk website as well as iPlayer radio were affected by the problems that began on Saturday morning around 10am and continued across the weekend and into Monday.
A message on the website read: “BBC iPlayer is temporarily unavailable due to a technical problem. Please try again later.” The BBC later introduced a simplified version of its catch up channel.
The BBC has apologised to viewers.
