German home-shopping broadcaster pearl.tv will offer its channel in standard definition (SD) on Astra (19.2 degrees East) again from August 1, 2014.
The frequency 12.148 GHz H (SR 27,500, FEC 3/4) will be used. The channel which closed down its SD feed in favour of an HD-only distribution on 1 November 2012 says that it reacts with the move to the “endless requests from viewers which still can’t receive HD broadcasts.” The HD feed will continue to be offered.
Since November 2013, pearl.tv has been carried on cable networks, for example Unitymedia, Kabel BW and PrimaCom. A collaboration with market leader Kabel Deutschland is, however, not planned in the foreseeable future, according to the broadcaster. The reason would be the cable operator’s “unrealistic and in comparison with other industry players inflated financial demands.”
The channel whose team includes well-known TV hosts like former RTL presenters Harry Wijnvoord and Carsten Spengemann is specialised on technical products.
