The number of viewers accessing the mobile TV service operated by Russia’s MTS via their mobiles and tablets increased by 30% during the World Cup.
Furthermore, the traffic generated by users of ‘Mobile TV’ during the competition grew by nearly 50%, with the last day alone amounting to 30 TB, equivalent to 14 years of continuous video streaming.
The most popular channel on the service during the World Cup was Rossiya-1, with the average audience increasing by 3.5 times.
That of the First Channel grew by 2.5 times and Sport 1’s audience doubled.
‘Mobile TV’ was launched in mid-2011 and today offers viewers over 100 TV channels from 17 countries and in 26 languages.
Available on 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi, it costs R8 (€0.17) a day to receive, with special rates for tablets in which the service fee is not charged.
