Telecom Italia Media (TI Media) and publisher L’Espresso have finalised the merger of their digital terrestrial TV assets into a single company, Persidera.
The newly formed operator consists of Telecom Italia Media Broadcasting Srl (Timb) and L’Espresso’s Rete A; together they have five national multiplexes. TI Media contributed three, Rete A two.
TI Media owns 70% of the new company, with the remainder held by L’Espresso. Massimo Confortini has been appointed president, and Paolo Ballerani CEO. The board of directors was completed with the appointment of Severino Salvemini as vice chairman, Adriano De Maio, Francesco Dini, Luigino Giannini, Guglielmo Noya, Carlo Ottino and Francesca Petralia.
In a press release the company said, “This transaction has resulted in the creation of the leading independent network operator in Italy, which owns five digital multiplexes with nationwide high-coverage infrastructure, able to provide high-quality services. The group resulting from the transaction will be the primary supplier of the main non-integrated national and foreign television publishers operating on the Italian market. The merger will also lead to significant synergies.”
