ZDF Enterprises, the commercial subsidiary of German public broadcaster ZDF, has teamed up with award-winning producer Uwe Kersken to create G5 fiction, a joint venture specialising in fictional productions.
Kersken is co-founder and long-time managing partner of Cologne-based production company Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion. He resigned from his post as general manager on April 1, 2014 in order to fully devote himself to new projects.
At G5 fiction, Kersken is responsible for the development, financing, production and licensing rights of original drama programmes such as mini-series, long-running series and event productions with German and international market potential. The focus is on topics with historical backgrounds, but projects from other genres are not excluded.
Kersken and his team are presently working on more than 15 productions for the international market including series Alexander the Great, Ellis Island and Dona Gracia (The Woman Who Fought the Inquisition). For the German-language market, G5 is currently developing several mini-series, two TV movies and a feature film for which agreements with various German broadcasters have already been finalised.
