Ofcom has begun a consultation into some of the issues that will be discussed at the World Radiocommunication Conference 2015 (WRC).
Although WRC will consider a wide range of issues across a number of sector interests, including mobile broadband, maritime, aeronautical, satellite and science use of spectrum, it is the use of UHF spectrum for DTT that broadcasters will be most focused on.
The band between 470 and 694 MHz is being eyed by telecoms operators for the delivery of broadband. Ofcom, in a view consistent with earlier consultations, says a UHF DTT switch-off is not feasible until 2030 at the earliest.
