The Czech national transmission company Ceske Radiokomunikace (CRa) will officially launch the new regional DTT multiplex (‘8’) on July 1.
Covering 54% of the country, though especially regional cities, it will initially offer viewers the channels Noe TV and SPORT 5.
The latter has been on air for six years and was at first only available on cable and satellite, before securing slot on the third multiplex last September.
Alongside its switch to ‘8’, the channel will offer viewers a wider range of sports programming.
‘8’ has enough capacity for eight SD (MPEG-2, 720×576) or four HD (MpEG-4, 1920×1080) channels.
