NATPE celebrates Polish TV programming

June 23, 2014 09.40 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Agnieszka HollandNATPE|Content First will host a Celebration of Polish TV Programming in Prague on Wednesday, 25 June at 12.30pm at the Hilton Prague Hotel.

Open to all delegates and taking place over lunch in the spectacular Cloud 9 Sky Bar and Lounge, the event will focus on the outstanding TV programming being produced. The first in a planned annual salute to countries in the region and their local production capabilities, the event this year will honour Poland’s fast growing and fiercely competitive TV landscape while revealing the myriad opportunities in one of Europe’s largest TV markets.

The Celebration of Polish TV Programming guest of honour is the award-winning director and scriptwriter Agnieszka Holland. As well as numerous international accolades including Academy Award nominations, Polish-born Holland has directed episodes of hit US television series such as The Wire, The Killing and Cold Case. She is garnering worldwide accolades for recent HBO Europe film Burning Bush. Holland will be unveiling details of her new international television projects at a media Q&A following the luncheon.

Partners for the first ever “Celebration of…” at NATPE|Europe are Polish commercial broadcaster and producer TVN, independent producer ATM Group and film distribution company Monolith Films.

“From a very restricted national service Poland’s television industry has grown and matured at an incredible rate and there are now many untapped opportunities for international buyers within this huge territory< " said Rod Perth, President and CEO of NATPE|Content First. "We are delighted to be working alongside some of the best creatives in Europe to raise the profile of their programming and to help it receive the recognition it deserves on the world stage.” Taking place from 23-26 June 2014, NATPE|Europe is set to launch for the first time in Prague where the facilities of the Hilton Prague Hotel will enable the market, screenings, special events, networking and social events to take place under one roof. NATPE|Europe replaces NATPE Budapest the long running event which was previously known as Discop, and offers buyers and sellers throughout Central and Eastern Europe and beyond an opportunity to meet in a relaxed atmosphere.
