Deutsche Telekom is emerging as a strong contender to buy the Serbian incumbent Telekom Srbija.
Quoting an unnamed source, Blic reports that being the owner of telcos in Croatia and Montenegro, as well as having made an offer for Telekom Slovenije two weeks ago, it is logical that that Telekom also has its sights set on Serbia.
Just as importantly, the Serbian government sees it as the favoured buyer. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has also recently expressed an interest in Telekom Srbija, though to date it has only acquired minority stakes in banks and companies.
The Serbian government would like to sell Telekom Srbija by the end of this year.
