The Polish broadcaster TVN and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have reached an agreement on the launch of Player.pl on Play Station3 and 4 (PS3 and 4).
The VOD service made its debut on PS3 on June 4 and its launch date on PS4 will be announced shortly.
PlayStation users will now have access to new functionalities of Player.pl, including login option, quick access and convenience in managing their favourites, as well as ‘continue viewing’ function to pause and resume watching the video. Player.pl will also provide a full range of video advertising solutions – preroll, midroll and postroll.
The Player.pl app will allow PlayStation users to stream the most popular TVN-produced content to their platforms.
Aside from PlayStation consoles, Player.pl is available on Android, iOS devices, TV sets of leading manufacturers as well as decoders of selected operators. It had nearly 4.6 million unique users on all devices this April.
Commenting on the agreement, Maciej Maciejowski, member of the management board in charge of new business development in TVN said: “Connected devices are becoming increasingly significant for television, therefore premiere launch of Player.pl on PS4 and its re-launch on PS3 are extremely important for development of our VOD services. Player.pl is being introduced to further platforms so as to be literally everywhere within reach of our fans. Given the access to Player.pl via PlayStation, they will benefit from even more convenient and unconstrained opportunity to stream highest-quality videos on the big screen.”
