The growing rapprochement between ITV and Sky has resulted in the broadcaster’s flagship channels being added to mobile TV service Sky Go for the first time.
As of Wednesday ITV, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV will be made available, as will new drama channel, ITV Encore, which launches on June 9.
The timing comes just before the World Cup to which ITV shares the rights with the BBC.
Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky’s brand director of TV products, commented: “Sky Go is home to the widest range of channels available anywhere our customers are, and reaching the milestone of over 60 live channels is a huge achievement. We are really excited to offer ITV channels on Sky Go as we know there can be a fight for the remote when a big summer of sport kicks off.”
Martin Goswami, Director of Pay & Distribution, ITV added: “Allowing viewers to access our shows across a range of platforms and devices, both at home and on the move, is a key part of our strategy. We’re delighted to offer Sky customers the chance to never miss their favourite ITV shows on Sky Go.”
At the end of March 2014, Sky Go had over 3.7 million unique users, up 13% year-on-year. In the first three months of this year, the Barclays Premier League delivered the three highest Sky Go audiences ever – peaking with 379,000 unique viewers.
Recently supported smartphones include the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5.
