The Walt Disney Company will broadcast its German pay-TV channels Disney Junior and Disney XD with a second soundtrack from June 1, 2014.
Besides the German-language version, viewers will then be able to watch the programmes with the original English-language soundtrack.
The second audio track will initially be offered on pay-TV platforms Sky Deutschland, Entertain from Deutsche Telekom and A1 TV from Telekom Austria. Talks are underway with further platform providers to make the option available.
“The new service is mainly interesting for English-speaking families,” said Ralf Gerhardt, executive programming director & deputy general manager Disney Channels of The Walt Disney Company.
“But switching to the original version is also worthwhile for German households as the English language is becoming increasingly important for children at an early stage,” added Gerhardt. “With support by their favourite TV heroes, children are easier made familiar with new languages.”
