Zattoo joins forces with E-Plus in Germany

May 28, 2014 10.33 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Zattoo-iPad-VoschauNebenSenderliste-Okt11Internet TV platform Zattoo has formed a commercial partnership with German mobile network operator E-Plus.

From June 2014, customers of E-Plus brand Base will receive premium package Zattoo HiQ for €7.99 instead of €9.99 per month if they sign up for a two-year subscription. With the monthly cancellation option, Zattoo HiQ costs €9.99 per month.

The reduced price not only grants access to Zattoo HiQ on smartphones or tablets, but on all internet-capable devices such connected TV sets, PCs and laptops.

Zattoo HiQ contains the free-to-air channels of the two large commercial TV groups RTL and ProSiebenSat.1 as OTT live-streams. The RTL channels are, however, only available via Wi-Fi and not through mobile networks at this stage. The package includes 20 further TV channels in HD quality. Also, no commercials are inserted by Zattoo when switching channels.

Zattoo Base e-plusThe data volume consumed when watching the live-streams is not part of the Zattoo deal with E-Plus, a Zattoo spokesman confirmed to Broadband TV News. It will reduce the data contingent included in the customer’s mobile tariff like any other data service.

After MTV Music powered by Rhapsody and Watchever, Zattoo is the third streaming service collaborating with Base. For Zattoo it marks the first partnership with a mobile network operator.
