Horizon launches in Poland

May 21, 2014 18.53 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Horizon TVPoland has become the first market in Central and Eastern Europe to launch Liberty Global’s Horizon TV.

According to UPC Polska, the Horizon TV app will give its subscribers access to around 100 TV channels, including National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild, BBC Lifestyle, BBC Entertainment, Eurosport, Eurosport 2, and Discovery Channel, on their tablets, smartphones, TVs and PCs.

They will also be able to view several hundred films and programmes on demand, as well as remotely record and receive reminders and be able to search for movies and series.

Horizon TV is available to subscribers of the Select Extra HD and Max Extra HD packages with internet access.

It is being offered free of charge to the latter, while the former will be offered it free of charge until July 31, after which they will pay PLN5 (€1.2) a month.

The Horizon TV app can be installed on an unlimited number of devices and used on up to three at the same time.

The service itself can be accessed via both WiFi or 3G networks.

Liberty Global’s Horizon TV had over 550,000 subscribers in four West European markets as of the end of the first quarter.

TiVo meanwhile had over 2.1 million customers in the UK.
