The BBC is to update the version of the iPlayer seen on Sky+HD receivers to bring it inline with the new version of iPlayer being rolled out on computers, tablets, mobiles and connected TVs. Its the first upgrade since the iPlayer’s introduction to Sky’s connected set-tops 18 months ago. The previous menu has been replaced by curated highlights of available content, while navigation is similar to the recently introduced IPTV version. The same Channel and Category headings are there, alongside dedicated areas for Most Popular and Collections. There is also now linking to the iPlayer from the Red Button menu found on all BBC channels. The BBC said it was also working with Sky to get around the ‘double listings’ of shows available in both SD and HD formats.
