Kaltura integrates with Wowza for live streaming

May 14, 2014 10.19 Europe/London By Robert Briel

wowza-girlWowza Media Systems and Kaltura have partnered adding live video streaming capabilities for Kaltura customers.

The new integration enables the Kaltura platform to easily begin broadcasting live video streams to deliver live viewing experiences on any device.

The live streaming engine powered by Wowza Media Systems provides a service that is integrated into Kaltura allowing media companies and operators, educational institutions and enterprises to deliver live video to any device, including smartphones and tablets, connected and smart TVs, set-top-boxes and gaming consoles. The ability to deploy with SaaS or on-premises options gives Kaltura customers the flexibility to scale up and scale down resources to meet changing broadcast demands with maximum budget efficiency.

Full featured live streaming is now part of every Kaltura service package, and is already being deployed by several of the company’s leading customers.

“Kaltura became a market leader with its unique open source model, cutting-edge tools and comprehensive services to simplify the creation of engaging video experiences,” said Wowza CEO and co-founder David Stubenvoll.

“The addition of Wowza Streaming Engine provides a scalable live streaming solution to enable Kaltura to meet the growing demand for live video with an integrated, elegant solution that provides the best possible user experience for both Kaltura customers and their audiences.”

“We’ve seen tremendous growth in demand for live video, and this partnership with Wowza Media Systems, enhances our live streaming capabilities with features such as live clipping and instant provisioning, enabling us to further provide a proven, scalable and affordable system on which our customers can build a long-term live and on-demand strategy,” said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura chairman and CEO.

“Wowza’s out-of-the-box system and future-proof technology catapults Kaltura ahead of the competition in the depth and breadth of our live product offering.”
