Germany’s two large commercial TV groups RTL and ProSiebenSat.1will continue to distribute their channels on digital terrestrial frequencies in the Hannover/Braunschweig region in Lower Saxony.
The assembly of local media authority Niedersächsische Landesmedienanstalt (NLM) extended the allocation of the DTT transmission capacity for 10 years at its latest meeting in Hannover.
The assignment covers four channels from Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland (RTL, VOX, Super RTL and RTL II) and three channels from ProSiebenSat.1 (Sat.1, ProSieben and kabel eins) as well as news channel N24.
“The assembly welcomes the decision by the large commercial TV groups to retain DTT broadcasting and thereby continue providing consumers with an attractive and inexpensive proposition,” said Ortrud Wendt, head of the NLM assembly.
RTL and ProSiebenSat.1 recently also decided to maintain their DTT distribution in federal state North-Rhine Westphalia.
