The shareholders Telefónica Czech Republic are to vote on a name change for the company on May 19.
Local reports say that a meeting has been convened on that date by PPF, the new majority owner, with a view to both discuss the matter, as well as changes to the company’s statutes.
PPF, which is backed by the Czech entrepreneur Petr Kellner, acquired a majority (65.9%) stake in the incumbent for CZK63.6 billion (€2.32 billion) late last year, with the previous owner, Spain’s Telefónica, retaining a 5% share.
Telefónica Czech Republic already uses the O2 brand for a range of services including its IPTV operation.
