The privatisation of Telekom Srbija is likely to get under way in the first 100 days of the new government in Serbia.
Quoting an unnamed source, Capital.ba and Blic add that interest in the incumbent is being shown by Telekom Austria, especially following Carlos Slim’s increased involvement in the company, Deutsche Telekom, operators from Turkey and – particularly strongly – by one financial institution in the US.
Russia, too, is interested in having a fibre-opic cable alongside the pipeline South Stream through Serbia.
Deutsche Telekom is understood to be the most serious prospective buyer and could bid €700 million for the telco.
Commenting on the upcoming privatisation, the Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic said it was being undertaken in order to ensure that Telekom Srbija could keep up with the competition.
