Russia’s leading DTH platform Tricolor TV has begun full-scale broadcasting in the Siberian region.
This, says the company, will within two months allow it to offer all its packages of TV channels, including the HD multiplex SuperKino HD, to subscribers in Siberia, Urals and parts of the Far East.
It adds that the move has been made possible by the long-awaited Express-AT1 satellite, on which Tricolor TV has leased 10 transponders, allowing it to distribute up to 200 channels.
Separately, Russia’s Ministry of Communications has confirmed that following a test period, both Express-AT1 and Express-AM5 have gone into service.
Tricolor TV expects its subscriber figure in Siberia, which currently stands at around 1.1 million, to increase significantly.
Although its new offer for the region will be similar to that for European Russia, there will be some fundamental differences.
The composition of the basic packages has been decided by the results of audience research, while additional packages have been enhanced, with the one offering movies containing seven new channels.
