Luxembourg-based European TV provider M7 Group has launched M7 Platform Services, providing both local and international broadcasters with an end-to-end distribution solution.
The solution enables broadcasters to reach subscribers of the M7-owned platforms in the Benelux (CanalDigitaal, TV Vlaanderen and TéléSAT), Czech Republic and Slovakia (Skylink), Austria (AustriaSat/HD Austria) and Hungary (AustriaSat Hungary).
“By providing new channels with local marketing support and a dedicated position in the Electronic Program Guides (EPG), satellite viewers will not only become aware of the channel, but will also be able to find it easily back in their channel list,” the company said.
On request, M7 Platform Services also provides simulcrypt solutions for other European markets, thereby further enlarging the potential viewing base and making the use of the satellite feed even more cost-effective. Moreover, the same satellite signal can also be used for delivering a channel to cable and IPTV headends in Europe, for which M7 Platform Services offers the necessary support service including the provision of smartcards and CI modules.
“M7 Platform Services helps broadcasters to reach the widest possible audience in the best quality and most cost-effective manner,” commented Bill Wijdeveld, VP Business Development of M7 Group.
“Especially for pan-European distribution, satellite is the ultimate way to do so. However, satellite broadcasting does not automatically mean people are able to watch a channel. Signals needs to be decoded, reception equipment must be tuned in and last-not-but-least: people should be aware that the channel is there and worth watching. That is why our service offering for broadcasters goes beyond the provision of satellite distribution. Where other service providers mostly focus on parts of the chain, our aim is to provide a truly full-service solution, including the critical last mile: the high quality signal delivery onto the screens at people’s homes.”
