Harmonic said it sees an improvement in demand from both satellite and telco pay-TV providers.
In an investor call timed to coincide with the technology provider’s 1st quarter financials, President Patrick Harshman said the 15% increase on last year came as the result of developments in its MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoders. The sector represents 25% of the company’s business.
Overall revenues increased to $108.03 million from $101.67 million last year, but Harmonic still reported a first-quarter net loss of $5.4 million or $0.06 per share, compared to net income of $6.4 million or $0.06 per share in the same period last year.
International customers accounted for 50% of revenue.
