Wisi is extending its reach

April 15, 2014 10.15 Europe/London By Donald Koeleman

ANGA COM 2014 – Stand 9, Hall 10.2. Established German cable and fibre network technology vendor Wisi is launching new modules for its three cable, IP,and fibre head-end and distribution platforms.

The Tangram head-end product range for IP streaming and feeding IP streams into analogue ‘EDGE’ access networks is being extended step by step. At ANGA COM WISI will present the new GT 32 ASI to IP Gateway, and the new GT 41 universal IP processing module for the encryption of content and optimalisation of IPTV streams.

The Chameleon head-end system allows for flexible upgrades through software licence keys. Chameleon software features include DVB tuners for different outputs, transmodulators, Edge-QAM, MPEG-4 Decoder, IP- and ASI-Streamer and a re-multiplexer. New software features presented at ANGA COM will include the encryption of content with Pro:ldiom and extended processing and redundancy functionalities. WISI announced it also plans to extend Chameleon by a new HDMI input encoder.

The modular Fibre access platform, Optopus, will see two new fibre nodes, the LR 27 and LR 92, an RF receiver, LR 91 and the optical in-house fibre termination, LR 10.

According to the vendor this modular access platform “fits into every optical network and more and more is implemented in FTTx with RF Overlay, RF over Glass architectures as well as HFC applications. The system provides the operator with high flexibility, reliability, a very high density and distinguishes oneself by a very low electricity consumption”.

Comprised of a comprehensive family of optical 1550nm transmitters and amplifiers the Optopus RF Overlay Solution particulary meets the requirements of blast and split architectures used in Point-to-Point or PON fiber access networks.
