Eurocinema VOD prefers subtitling to dubbing

April 10, 2014 09.38 Europe/London By Robert Briel

go-with-le-flo-posterMIPTV 2014 – CANNES. Miami-based VOD service Eurocinema prefers to bring original versions of European movies rather than dub them into English, says president and CEO Sebastien Perioche.

“We bring all movies in their original language with Englsih subtitles,” he said, “Listening to a foreign language is part of the experience.”

All movies are available on a transactional basis for prices between $2.99 to $5.99 for a 48 hour window. There are library titles, but also very recent movies. “We are doing day and release with the world theatrical premiere, online and on TV, of the new romantic German/French language film Go With Le Flo, which we will pfremiere in Los Angeles and make available on VOD at the same time.”

Perioche is now looking to take Eurocinema VOD outside the US, primarily to Latin America and the Middle East, while also looking to Turkey and Russia.

The VOD service is now available in over 36 million US homes on cable and IPTV, including such major distributors including Comcast, Charter, Cablevision, Verizon, Bresnan and Blue Ridge.

Perioche said he is also looking into OTT de,livery of his service including talking to smart TV Manufacturers.
