The Greek telco industry finds itself in a state of flux, with consolidation very much on the agenda.
According to Ekathimerini, the main focus is on companies such as Hellas Online (HOL) and Cyta Hellas that are currently operating on a razor’s edge.
In the case of HOL, Vodafone is understood to have agreed on a price for the 57% in the company currently held by Intracom Holdings, as well as for the minority stakes.
Vodafone’s aim is understood to be to secure 100% ownership of HOL and delist it from the Athens Stock Exchange.
Cyta Hellas is meanwhile a subsidiary of Cyprus’ Cyta and has some 300,000 subscribers.
Cyta has committed to the company until at least 2016, although its future, which could include a sale, will be decided in the next 18 months.
Cyta Hellas could be a possible take-over target for both Vodafone and Wind Hellas.
