MIPTV 2014 – CANNES. At the upcoming MIP FORMATS in Cannes, FRAPA will launch the 2014 update of the Format Price Calculator, one of the services created by FRAPA.

The price overview now includes more than 6,000 recent format fee indications at a total of 50 different levels in more than 120 countries.

The Format Price Calculator a highly appreciated and often used tool by the professionals in the international format business.Used by executives as well as financial and legal professionals, it is now considered the benchmark in the format trade industry.

The update is the result of a thorough survey and research of license fees used in negotiations for format sales.

“The Format Price Calculator is the result of an intensive process and thorough research by some of the most senior executives in the format trade industry. We’d like to express our gratitude towards all professionals who cooperated with FRAPA and provided us with this enormous amount of data,” according to Patty Geneste, chairman of FRAPA, “I hereby invite all executives in the industry to use it.”

Karoline Spodsberg, managing director, Banijay International, added: “The FRAPA Price Calculator is an important tool in helping format creators feel
supported and protected in their work, which is essential if our industry is to remain dynamic and relevant.”

Also enthusiastic about the FRAPA format price calculator is format creator Matt Kot: “It’s an invaluable tool for any format creator, enabling quick and easy
reference to current format values in different markets around the globe. With the ability to personalise region, programme length and transmission region within seconds,
makes this ‘free to members’ tool yet another of the many fantastic benefits that come with being a member of FRAPA. To be able to find out where my formats are most
valuable, and what emerging markets are paying for formats, has enabled me to adapt my portfolio to suit markets where it will be most valuable.”
