Deutsche Welle (DW) has reinforced its emphasis on the Arab world by increasing Arabic programming to 17 hours daily.
DW said it has once again taken steps to cement its foothold in the Arab world by increasing its programming in Arabic from ten hours to a continuous block of 17 hours daily. With this move, Germany’s international broadcaster will ensure a better viewing experience for the region between Morocco and Oman.
The lineup change comes just a few weeks after securing the rights to broadcast AlBernameg with Bassem Youssef, providing the satirist with a Pan-Arabic platform for political commentary. AlBernameg is broadcast weekly on DW (Arabia).
“Our reach in the Arab world continues to grow and we will continue to develop our program and expand our lineup to meet the growing needs of the region,” says Petra Schneider, director of distribution at DW. “There is unlocked potential in many of the markets and we hope that this is just another step to reach new viewers.”
DW(Arabia) offers a range of innovative shows highlighting the dialogue between Europe and the Middle East, with ordinary people and extraordinary personalities. The new program includes a 17-hour block of Arabic programming and seven hours in English.
