Apple is reported to be in talks with Comcast over an agreement for a streaming TV service.
Quoting the Wall Street Journal, Reuters says that an agreement between the two parties would allow Apple Set-top boxes to bypass congestion on the web.
However, the talks are still at an early stage and “there are a lot of hurdles to cross”.
Reuters adds that Apple wants to be separated from public internet traffic over the last mile for faster transmission and is looking for special treatment from Comcast.
Significantly, only last month Netflix already agreed to pay Comcast for faster speeds.
Meanwhile, the FCC is in the process of drafting a new net-neutrality bill that will require network operators to disclose exactly how they manage internet traffic.
They will also not be allowed to restrict surfing the web or using applications,
