Magyar Telekom has deployed the Zenterio Operating System on two new set-top boxes that will support both PVR and interactive multiroom services.
The deployment will allow Magyar Telekom to develop its services for its TV subscribers in Hungary and harmonise its set-top box software client environment.
The independent operating system provides the opportunity to extend deployment and standardise TV offerings across regions.
Commenting on the development, Samuel Lindstedt, CEO of Zenterio, said: “Operators are looking to stay competitive by offering original and interactive services to their users, however the industry is facing a hardware fragmentation problem that prevents them from standardizing features, a crucial element to innovation and performance in this sector.
“Zenterio is focused on providing efficient and cost-effective software so that operators can stay ahead of the curve and embrace a long-term services solution as future industry needs and technologies fluctuate. This deployment by Magyar Telekom demonstrates how our focus has fueled adoption of Zenterio OS as the core of millions of STBs in the global market.”
Thomas Staneker, head of Deutsche Telekom’s International TV Service Centre in Budapest, added: “We are glad we chose a renowned industry player for our TV solutions.
“We are looking forward to successfully expand our relation to Zenterio on the basis of this great achievement in Hungary.”
