PrimaCom acquires DTK Deutsche Telekabel

March 17, 2014 19.33 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Primacom Standort LeipzigGerman cable operator PrimaCom has acquired DTK Deutsche Telekabel, with around 270,000 connected homes.

DTK mainly serves housing estates in the cities of Berlin, Hamburg, Halle, Gera, Prenzlau, Essen, Leverkusen, Wuppertal and Templin. With the acquisition, PrimaCom now has around 1.3 million homes.

Last year, PrimaCom acquired a small operator, Sy-Fra Antennentechnik, Kabel- und Kommunikationssysteme. Last October, PrimaCom told press that it was in the market to acquire more cable assets, possible including DTK and TeleColumbus.

The German cable market is going through a process of consolidation, with Vodafone’s €7.7 billion takeover of Germany’s largest cable company Kabel Deutschland and Liberty Global’s merger of Unitymedia and KabelBW.
