Deutsche Telekom offers over 100 HD channels

March 14, 2014 20.30 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Deutsche Telekom currently now gives its Entertain IPTV customers access to 101 HD channels and outperforms the national competition by far in this category.

As of March 4, 2014, the veed database shows that Deutsche Telekom’s Entertain IPTV service offers 101 HD channels. Entertain benefits from the recent integration of Sky into their offering structure, as now Entertain customers can access the large selection of Sky HD channels.

Overall, Sky HD channels such as Sky Action HD or Fox HD account for about one quarter of Entertains HD channels, with free HD channels such as ‘Das Erste HD’ also accounting for about one quarter. The HD offering is completed by Entertains own premium HD channel offering, available for customers via their packages HD Start, HD Paket and HD Option.

Sky currently holds the second position in terms of HD offering, with the veed database showing 75 HD channels available for Sky satellite customers (including free HD channels available via satellite and private HD channels available through HD+ for Sky customers).

The two large cable operators Unitymedia and Kabel Deutschland follow with 58 and 43 HD channels respectively available for their customers.
