Dutch incumbent KPN is launching a TV Everywhere pilot at the end of March making 14 channels available on its 4G network.
The service is being made available to 2,000 selected KPN Compleet customers, who will be able to receive live streams of 14 TV channels everywhere in The Netherlands.
KPN calls the service TV buitenshuis (TV out of home) and is available on smartphones and tablets with 4G reception.
The 14 channels that are taking part bin the trial are Comedy Central / Kindernet, Nickelodeon, MTV, Discovery Channel, Videotheek TV, CNN, BBC World News, VRT één, Ketnet, Canvas, TV 5, Xite, National Geographic Channel and TLC / Animal Planet.
Interestingly, the ten main Dutch pubic and private channels will not be available during the test. However, the three Dutch public channels Nederland 1, 2 and 3 are available nationwide on the NPO App on tablets and smartphones, as well as on computers.
