Magine has appointed Kamal Bherwani as its new chairman in advance of further international expansion.
Bherwani has accepted the role of chairman at a time of continued growth within both existing and new international markets, with announcements anticipated over the coming months. At present, Magine is fully launched in its native Sweden, and is in beta form in Spain and Germany.
Mattias Hjelmstedt, CEO and founder of Magine, commented: “In his role as Chairman, Kamal will help drive and fulfil our founding vision of establishing Magine as the leading international cloud-based TV service, and will contribute significantly to our preparation for future international roll-out and expansion.”
Magine’s new chairman, Kamal Bherwani, 45, has been on the Magine board since the service’s commercial launch in Sweden in September 2013, having previously held the roles of Chief Digital Officer and CTO at Prisa, the Spanish language media company.
Bherwani commeneted: “Since its launch in March 2013, Magine has consistently proven its relevance and popularity to both consumers and content rights holders alike, and is in the ideal position to meet the market’s growing demand for next-generation TV offerings. I am delighted to be able to accept the role of Chairman, and continue to contribute to the overall direction and strategy as Magine consolidates its position within existing markets and moves into new territories.”
Kamal Bherwani replaces Michael Werner, who remains a member of the board of Magine.
