The Polish public broadcaster TVP’s hybrid platform was used by nearly 300,000 people as of the end of 2013.
This, according to the company’s annual report, represented a 300% increase on the total a year earlier and provided an indication of the potential of the services it offers.
Interestingly, the user figure was considerably higher than the one provided by TVP at a conference in Warsaw in January and makes the end-2014 target of 500,000 look much more achievable.
TVP had revenues of PLN282 million (€70 million) from receiver licence fees in 2013. Although this was 11.2% more than a year earlier, they only accounted for 18.7% of total revenues and contributed only 20.7% of the money required for TVP to fulfill its public service remit.
