Romtelecom, OTE make TV gains

Romtelecom, new offices 2011Romtelecom ended 2013 with 1,353,421 subscribers to its TV services, which span DTH, IPTV and cable, or 7% more than a year earlier.

At the same time, the take-up of its broadband services increased by 4.5% to 1,249,987. Revenues from TV and broadband services in the fourth quarter meanwhile increased by 7.4% and 7% respectively.

Furthermore, the company’s urban footprint of cable TV continued to expand in the fourth quarter, allowing more households in major Romanian cities to gain access to Romtelecom’s TV offering.

Greek incumbent OTE, Romtelecom’s parent company, meanwhile saw its TV subscriber total, which includes IPTV and DTH, increase by 113.7% to 255,912 in 2013.

Its active retail broadband customers numbered 1,261,590, or 7% more than a year earlier.

OTE had revenues of €4,054.1 million in 2003 (-6.4% year-o-year) and its EBITDA was €1,177.9 million (-15.4%).

Its net income amounted to €287.8 million (-34.6%) and it posted a higher loss in Q4 2013 (-€188.7 million) than a year earlier (-€57.7 million).
