Poland’s Telewizja Polsat plans to add two more thematic channels to its portfolio at the end of the second or in the third quarter this year.
Speaking in a press conference and quoted in Wirtualne Media, Dominik Libicki, the president of Cyfrowy Polsat, said that the company had already applied to the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) for licences for the channels, which will be named Diosco Polo Music and Polsat Film 2.
Telewizja Polsat already has 19 channels in its portfolio, all but four of which are distributed by satellite.
Separately, Libicki said that Cyfrowy Polsat plans to shortly add four more channels to its Telewizja Mobilna (mobile TV) service.
He also expressed the view that Poland’s fourth and fifth DTT multiplexes should carry HD versions of DTT channels already distributed by the three current multiplexes.
