BT has launched a new slimline version of its YouView set-top box. The new design brings the broadband TV receiver in line with the rest of the current BT device family including the BT Home Hub 4 and Hub 5. The box has the same distinct style of downlit LEDs to indicate power, record and broadband functions.
The box, manufactured by existing supplier Humax, has a 500GB hard drive and can store up to 300 hours of SD TV or around 125 hours of HD TV recordings. It will now become the standard receiver for new BT customers.
Following earlier trials customers said that navigating the TV Guide and on-demand menus was much smoother.
Alex Green, director of BT TV, said: “The new YouView+ box from BT has all the functions and features that viewers love about the service, but it’s even better. It’s been a big hit with customers who have already tried it out. They’ve said it is smaller, quieter and faster. The new YouView+ box from BT has been designed in the style of other BT devices, so will look great in any living room.”
YouView+ from BT is available with BT’s TV subscriptions and broadband packages.
