The Dutch cable network Delta Kabelcomfort may soon come on the market.
The cable network, that serves 155,000 customers in the province of Zeeland is still owned by utilities company Delta, which in turn is owned for 50% by the province of Zeeland.
Delta has confirmed local reports that it has hired Morgan Stanley to lead the sale of the company, which includes assets including the nuclear power plant at Borssele. During the past year, the utilities company had a total turnover of EUR2.17 billion.
Should a buyer be found, then it is very likely that the cable division will be spun off separately. Delta Kabelcomfort is one of the few remaining operators which is still owned by a publicly owned utilities company. Its cable operation is the third largest operator in the country, after Ziggo and UPC.
Delta shares are held by 19 municipalities in Zeeland and Noord-Brabant and by the provinces of Zeeland, Brabant and South Holland. The utilities company employs some 3,200 people.
