UPC Romania has decided to withdraw from the country’s Cable Communication Association (ACC).
According to Wall-Street.ro, the move, which came into effect at the beginning of this month, followed recent statements by Radu Petric, the president of the ACC, which did not represent the views of the cable operator.
Speaking to Broadband TV News, the ACC president said: “It is to be said that our activity as an Association has been “invisible” for the past years as there was no real dialogue with the authorities. I can understand UPC’s frustration with our lack of results in a number of issues like the Infrastructure Law or the recent Emergency Ordinance for taxing the special constructions.
“We will continue as an Association to promote the interests of the industry, to establish a communication bridge with the authorities, to improve the legal framework for the telecom sector.”
