Romania may shortly see the launch of a new business channel, owned by Mohammad Murad, one of the country’s largest hotel owners.
Mediafax reports that Murad is, at the second attempt, trying to obtain two licences for the channel – one for TV, the other for electronic communication networks – from the National Audiovisual Council (CNA).
He also tried to secure two licences at the first attempt, lodging an application through a company named M&M Channel SRL, but the regulator postponed a decision on January 28.
The reason for this was that the CNA wanted to seek an opinion from Realitatea Media, who’s Money Channel currently carries some programmes that the new channel – named TV Life – also planned to include in its schedule.
The CNA also wanted to check on the studio and equipment the new channel would use.
M&M Channel SRL has since changed the name of the proposed channel to The Market Channel.
Murad is understood to already be in partnership with Money Channel and the CNA is set to review the new channel application today (February 11).
