A number of Belgian broadcasters have filed a lawsuit against the cloud PVR provider Bhaalu, according to local press.
The broadcasters (VTM, SBS Belgium and VRT) claim Bhaalu is in violation of copyright and it should stop its services and pay damages.
Last November Hasselt-based technology firm Right Brain has launched Bhaalu as a network-PVR that will record all programmes the viewer subscribes to. People can access the service via a dedicated Bhaalu set-top box, a Bhaalu smart stick or via a mobile app (for tablets and phones).
Bhaalu claims its cloud-based PVR service is 100% legal, but the three Belgian broadcasters have now started to take legal action as there are no contracts in place for such a service.
