Poland’s leading DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat added the new SPI International channel FilmBox Arthouse to its line-up on February 1.
FilmBox Arthouse, which features cinematic masterpieces by Visconti, Kurosawa, Hitchcock and Fellini, as well as a growing repertoire of arthouse and independent productions from all over the world, will be offered on Cyfrowy Polsat as part of its Film HD package, which with the newest addition includes 25 movie channels.
The new channel is produced by SPI-owned Kino Polska TV S.A. in Warsaw.
While Poland is the first country where FilmBox Arthouse is being launched, localised with Polish subtitles, the channel is available for worldwide distribution on DTH, cable, IPTV, mobile TV and connected TV.
FilmBox Arthouse is also available globally via a monthly subscription on FilmBoxLive.com a global VoD platform featuring several live-streaming channels and a rich content library from the SPI catalogue.
Commenting on the launch, Lukasz Bulka, director of marketing and PR for SPI International and Kino Polska TV S.A., said: “Artistic cinema and independent movies are rarely aired on commercial TV networks. We want to make FilmBox Arthouse a unique TV venue where such productions are easily accessible to movie lovers who crave watching films made by ambitious filmmakers presenting their auteur visions and unconventional approach to storytelling.
“We are very happy to launch our channel on Cyfrowy Polsat, Poland’s largest satellite platform and we are currently working on launching FilmBox Arthouse in other countries and continents beyond Europe.”
