The Romanian regulator ANCOM has announced a minimum asking price of €300,000 for each of the five DTT multiplexes it will soon be auctioning.
Four of the multiplexes will be UHF and one VHF and all will employ the DVB-T2 standard.
The winner of the licence for the first UHF multiplex will be required to transmit FTA public and private TV stations currently using analogue in what the regulator terms are “transparent, far and non-discriminatory conditions”.
It will also have to cover 90% of the population and 80% of Romania’s territory by the end of December.
Significantly, the first multiplex will be the only one of the five required to meet such coverage conditions.
The other four will meanwhile each be required to be employ at least 36 transmitters in their period of 10 years, effective June 17, 2015.
The public consultation launched by ANCOM on the selection procedure for granting DT licences closed on January 14 and the regulator is currently analysing the comments it received.
