Romtelecom has been given approval to enter the cable market in the city of Brasov.
ZF reports that this follows a unanimous decision taken by the regulator CNA to launch a network to be known as Dolce Cable.
To date, the Romanian incumbent has only been undertaking tests in Brasov, providing cable services to its employees.
Romtelecom is now expected to launch a cable service that will offer its subscribers 60 analogue and 82 digital TV channels.
Romtelecom operates DTH and IPTV services, both of which use the Dolce brand.
It is also present in Romania’s cable market through the subsidiary NextGen Communications.
