The European Bank for Reconstruction of Development (EBRD) has become a shareholder in Cyfrowy Polsat, the leading media and telecoms group in Poland.
It follows Cyfrowy Polsat’s acquisition of Metelem, a previous owner of Polkomtel, the operator of the mobile company Plus, in a deal announced in November.
As a result of the transaction, Cyfrowy Polsat will gain the 16.23% stake in Metelem held by the EBRD, which will in turn secure a stake of 7.39% in the conditionally increased share capital of Cyfrowy Polsat.
Cyfrowy Polsat’s interests include the DTH platform of the same name, which is the largest in Poland, with over 3.5 million subscribers.
